La falta de información sobre el uso de la tecnología en niños con trastorno del espectro autista (TEA) de diferentes perfiles puede dificultar que docentes y alumnos se estén beneficiando del apoyo tecnológico más eficaz y ajustado a sus necesidades. El objetivo de esta revisión fue analizar y sintetizar la evidencia científica sobre la eficacia de los recursos tecnológicos en la mejora de la comprensión emocional de estudiantes con TEA con perfiles de alto y bajo funcionamiento. Para ello se realizó una revisión sistemática de las publicaciones científicas indexadas en algunas de las bases de datos de mayor relevancia siguiendo los criterios establecidos en la declaración PRISMA. En total se analizaron 38 artículos que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión preestablecidos. Los resultados muestran la importancia de diseñar sistemas versátiles que puedan personalizarse y adaptarse en tiempo real y en contextos naturales con un enfoque claramente inclusivo. Pero también sugieren que la tecnología puede no ser una herramienta de intervención complementaria adecuada para todos los niños con TEA. Lo que subraya la necesidad de ensayos adicionales bien controlados sobre las características que permitan identificar qué estudiantes podrían o no beneficiarse de diferentes modalidades de tecnología. Objective: An important issue related to electric powered wheelchair (EPW) is usability. Recent studies did not use heuristic evaluation and did not consider users’ and developers’ participation in the usability evaluation process of the EPW, especially when it has to be driven using alternative commands. Thus, this study investigates the use of heuristics to evaluate the usability of EPW driven by alternative commands, considering the opinion of users and assistive technology (AT) development professionals.MethodsThe study was carried out with 54 participants: 28 EPW users (Group I) and 26 AT developers (Group II). We built a set of 25 heuristics that affects EPW usability. Participants rated each of the 25 heuristics according to their importance for the usability of EPW using the five-point Likert scale. We used the R Software to perform the Wilcoxon Mann–Whitney test as a statistical comparisons test between Group I and II.ResultsThe results showed a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) between Group I and II in the evaluation of 16 heuristics. We identified an important set of heuristics that could help evaluate and improve the usability of EPW.ConclusionThe findings highlighted the importance of considering users’ and developers’ points of view in developing an EPW and its evaluation criteria. It could help the design of the device match the user's needs and expectations. The set of heuristics in this study can be adapted to evaluate other devices’ usability using the heuristic evaluation approach. (AU)


Objetivo: La usabilidad es una cuestión importante relacionada con las sillas de ruedas eléctricas (SRE). Los estudios recientes no han utilizado evaluaciones heurísticas ni han contemplado la participación de los usuarios y desarrolladores en el proceso de evaluación de dichas sillas, especialmente cuando deben conducirse utilizando comandos alternativos. Por ello, este estudio investiga el uso de la heurística para evaluar la usabilidad de las SRE impulsadas por comandos alternativos, considerando la opinión de los usuarios y los profesionales del desarrollo de la tecnología asistencial (TA).MétodosEl estudio se realizó con 54 participantes: 28 usuarios de SRE (Grupo I) y 26 desarrolladores de TA (Grupo II). Construimos un conjunto de 25 heurísticas que afectan a la usabilidad de las SRE. Los sujetos calificaron cada una de las 25 heurísticas de acuerdo con su importancia para la usabilidad de las SRE utilizando la escala de Likert de cinco puntos. Utilizamos el software R para realizar la prueba de Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney como prueba de comparación estadística entre los Grupos I y II.ResultadosLos resultados reflejaron una diferencia estadística significativa (p < 0,05) entre los Grupos I y II en la evaluación de las 16 heurísticas. Identificamos un conjunto importante de heurísticas que podrían ayudar a evaluar y mejorar la usabilidad de las SRE.ConclusiónLos hallazgos subrayaron la importancia de estimar los puntos de vista de los usuarios y desarrolladores a la hora de desarrollar una SRE, así como sus criterios de evaluación. Estos podrían contribuir a que el diseño del dispositivo coincidiera con las necesidades y expectativas de los usuarios. El conjunto de heurísticas de este estudio puede adaptarse, para evaluar la usabilidad de otros dispositivos, utilizando el enfoque de evaluación heurística. (AU)

Mixed conducting materials with both ionic and electronic conductivities have gained prominence in emerging applications. However, exploring material with on-demand ionic and electronic conductivities remains challenging, primarily due to the lack of correlating macroscopic conductivity with atom-scale structure. Here, the correlation of proton-electron conductivity and atom-scale structure in graphdiyne is explored. Precisely adjusting the conjugated diynes and oxygenic functional groups in graphdiyne yields a tunable proton-electron conductivity on the order of 103. In addition, a wet-chemistry lithography technique for uniform preparation of graphdiyne on flexible substrates is provided. Utilizing the proton-electron conductivity and mechanical tolerance of graphdiyne, bimodal flexible devices serving as capacitive switches and resistive sensors are created. As a proof-of-concept, a breath-machine interface for sentence-based communication and self-nursing tasks with an accuracy of 98% is designed. This work represents an important step toward understanding the atom-scale structure-conductivity relationship and extending the applications of mixed conducting materials to assistive technology.

Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is an inherited disorder that impairs motile cilia, essential for respiratory health, with a reported prevalence of 1 in 16,309 within Hispanic populations. Despite 70% of Puerto Rican patients having the RSPH4A [c.921+3_921+6del (intronic)] founder mutation, the characterization of the ciliary dysfunction remains unidentified due to the unavailability of advanced diagnostic modalities like High-Speed Video Microscopy Analysis (HSVA). Our study implemented HSVA for the first time on the island as a tool to better diagnose and characterize the RSPH4A [c.921+3_921+6del (intronic)] founder mutation in Puerto Rican patients. By applying HSVA, we analyzed the ciliary beat frequency (CBF) and pattern (CBP) in native Puerto Rican patients with PCD. Our results showed decreased CBF and a rotational CBP linked to the RSPH4A founder mutation in Puerto Ricans, presenting a novel diagnostic marker that could be implemented as an axillary test into the PCD diagnosis algorithm in Puerto Rico. The integration of HSVA technology in Puerto Rico substantially enhances the PCD evaluation and diagnosis framework, facilitating prompt detection and early intervention for improved disease management. This initiative, demonstrating the potential of HSVA as an adjunctive test within the PCD diagnostic algorithm, could serve as a blueprint for analogous developments throughout Latin America.

BACKGROUND: The landscape of assisted reproductive technology (ART) has seen a significant shift towards frozen-thawed embryo transfers (FET) over fresh transfers, driven by technological advancements and clinical considerations. This study aimed to compare live birth outcomes between primary FET and fresh transfers, focusing on cycles without preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), using United States national data from the SART CORS database spanning from 2014 to 2020. METHODS: We performed a retrospective cohort study of autologous first ART cycles without PGT comparing primary embryo transfer (frozen thaw vs. fresh) success rates from the 2014-2020 SARTCORS database. Live-birth rates (LBR) and cumulative live-birth rates (CLBR) were compared between first FET versus first fresh embryo transfer from an index retrieval. Multivariate logistic regression (MLR) determined association between live birth outcomes and method of transfer. In a subsequent sub-analysis, we compared these two embryo transfer methods among patients with either diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) or male factor infertility. RESULTS: 228,171 first ART cycles resulted in primary embryo transfer. 62,100 initial FETs and 166,071 fresh transfers were compared. Initial FETs demonstrated higher LBR and CLBR compared to fresh transfers (LBR 48.3% vs. 39.8%, p < 0.001; CLBR 74.0% vs. 60.0%, p < 0.0001). MLR indicated greater chances of live birth with FET across all age groups, with adjusted odds ratio (aOR) of live-birth incrementally increasing with advancing age groups. For DOR cycles, LBR and CLBR were significantly higher for FET compared to fresh (33.9% vs. 26.0%, p < 0.001, 44.5% vs. 37.6%, p < 0.0001), respectively. MF cycles also demonstrated higher LBR and CLBR with FET (52.3% vs. 44.2%, p < 0.001, 81.2% vs. 68.9%, p < 0.0001), respectively. MLR demonstrated that in DOR cycles, initial FET was associated with greater chance of live birth in age groups ≥ 35yo (p < 0.01), with aOR of live birth increasingly considerably for those > 42yo (aOR 2.63, p < 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS: Overall LBR and CLBR were greater for first FET than fresh transfers with incremental increases in odds of live birth with advancing age, suggesting the presence of a more favorable age-related change in endometrial receptivity present in frozen-thawed cycles. For both DOR and MF cycles, LBR and CLBR after primary transfer were greater for first FET than fresh. However, this was particularly evident in older ages for DOR cycles. This suggests that supraphysiologic stimulation in older DOR cycles may be detrimental to endometrial receptivity, which is in part corrected for in FET cycles.

This review delineates the ocular motor disturbances across a spectrum of neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and related disorders (ADRD), Parkinson's Disease (PD), atypical parkinsonism, and others, leveraging advancements in eye-tracking technology for enhanced diagnostic precision. We delve into the different classes of eye movements, their clinical assessment, and specific abnormalities manifesting in these diseases, highlighting the nuanced differences and shared patterns. For instance, AD and ADRD are characterized by increased saccadic latencies and instability in fixation, while PD features saccadic hypometria and mild smooth pursuit impairments. Atypical parkinsonism, notably Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Syndrome (CBS), presents with distinct ocular motor signatures such as vertical supranuclear gaze palsy and saccadic apraxia, respectively. Our review underscores the diagnostic value of eye movement analysis in differentiating between these disorders and also posits the existence of underlying common pathological mechanisms. We discuss how eye movements have potential as biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases but also some of the existing limitations.

Telemedicine has emerged as a transformative force in healthcare delivery, particularly in improving healthcare accessibility. This comprehensive review examines the impact of telemedicine on healthcare accessibility, exploring its ability to overcome geographical, financial, sociocultural, and infrastructural barriers to healthcare access. Through remote consultations, monitoring, and diagnosis facilitated by technology, telemedicine extends healthcare reach to remote and underserved areas while enhancing temporal accessibility with round-the-clock availability. By streamlining healthcare delivery systems, telemedicine reduces costs and promotes efficiency, ultimately fostering health equity and improving health outcomes. However, technological barriers, regulatory hurdles, and patient acceptance remain. To realize telemedicine's full potential, collaboration among stakeholders in the healthcare and technology sectors is imperative. Policymakers must enact supportive regulations, healthcare providers must integrate telemedicine into their practices, and technology companies must innovate to develop user-friendly platforms. Through concerted efforts, telemedicine can catalyze advancing healthcare accessibility and enhance the health and well-being of individuals worldwide.

The American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) recently published the report of Task Group (TG) 302, which provides recommendations on acceptance, commissioning, and ongoing routine quality assurance (QA) for surface-guided radiation therapy (SGRT) systems. One of the recommended monthly QA tests is a dynamic localization accuracy test. This work aimed to develop an automated procedure for monthly SGRT dynamic localization QA. An anthropomorphic head phantom was rigidly attached to the 6-dof couch of a TrueBeam linac. TrueBeam Developer Mode was used to take an MV image of the phantom at the starting position, then automatically drive the couch through a series of translations and rotations, taking an MV image after each translation. The Identify SGRT system monitored the motion of the phantom surface from the starting position. Translations assessed on MV images were compared to translations reported in trajectory log files and Identify log files. Rotations were compared between trajectory log files and Identify log files. Three experiments were conducted. None of the translations or rotations from any experiment exceeded the tolerance values for stereotactic ablative body radiation therapy (SABR) recommended by AAPM TG-142. Maximum deviations from the expected translation values from MV imaging, trajectory log files, and Identify log files were -0.94mm, -0.11mm, and -0.78mm, respectively. Maximum deviations from the expected rotation values from trajectory log files and Identify log files were 0.01 and -0.2 degrees, respectively. The proposed method is a simple automated way to complete monthly dynamic localization QA of SGRT systems.

Background and Objectives: Patient portals are secure online platforms that allow patients to perform electronic health management tasks and engage in bidirectional information exchange with their care team. Some health systems administer Medicare Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) health risk assessments through the patient portal. Scalable opportunities from portal-based administration of risk assessments are not well understood. Our objective is 2-fold-to understand who receives vs misses an AWV and health risk assessment and explore who might be missed with portal-based administration. Research Design and Methods: This is an observational study of electronic medical record and patient portal data (10/03/2021-10/02/2022) for 12 756 primary care patients 66+ years from a large academic health system. Results: Two-thirds (n = 8420) of older primary care patients incurred an AWV; 81.0% of whom were active portal users. Older adults who were active portal users were more likely to incur AWV than those who were not, though portal use was high in both groups (81.0% with AWV vs 76.8% without; p < .001). Frequently affirmative health risk assessment categories included falls/balance concerns (44.2%), lack of a documented advanced directive (42.3%), sedentary behaviors (39.9%), and incontinence (35.1%). Mean number of portal messages over the 12-month observation period varied from 7.2 among older adults affirmative responses to concerns about safety at home to 13.8 for older adults who reported difficulty completing activities of daily living. Portal messaging varied more than 2-fold across affirmative health risk categories and were marginally higher with greater number affirmative (mean = 13.8 messages/year no risks; 19.6 messages/year 10+ risks). Discussion and Implications: Most older adults were active portal users-a group more likely to have incurred a billed AWV. Efforts to integrate AWV risk assessments in the patient portal may streamline administration and scalability for dissemination of tailored electronically mediated preventive care but must attend to equity issues.

Introduction: Optimal chronic care management is limited by low health care access and health literacy among underserved populations. We introduced clinical pharmacy services to enhance our patient-centered home model, which serves mostly Medicare/Medicaid-insured patients. Primary care providers (PCP) refer patients with uncontrolled diabetes to the pharmacist for chronic disease management between PCP appointments to bring A1c to goal under a collaborative agreement. This workflow existed before the COVID-19 pandemic and was primarily in-person visits. Our model transitioned to telehealth, where pharmacy services continued via audio/video visits to avoid disruption in care. Methods: A collaborative scope of practice within care guidelines was developed with PCPs. Established patients with uncontrolled diabetes were referred to the clinical pharmacist. The workflow remained consistent through January 1, 2019 to January 31, 2020 (pre-COVID), and April 1, 2020 to October 31, 2021 (post-COVID). February and March 2020 were excluded due to changing operational processes at the pandemic onset. The pharmacist independently saw patients for medication-related interventions and ordered associated labs within the scope of practice. The program was retrospectively evaluated via process metrics (visit volume and intervention types) and clinical outcome (A1c reduction). Results: A total of 105 patients were referred for diabetes management during the study period. These were in-person pre-COVID (95%) and shifted to entirely audio/video (100%) post-COVID. Impact of pharmacy services was sustained through the change in care model: an A1c reduction of more than 0.5% was observed in 65% (n = 20) and 69% (n = 49) of patients managed by the pharmacist, pre- and post-COVID, respectively. Pharmacy visit volumes were 86 versus 308, respectively. Conclusion: Pharmacy referral and visit volumes increased over the pandemic, made possible via telehealth. The goal attainment rate observed pre-COVID was amplified even with the growth in services over time. Clinical pharmacy services delivered through audio/video telehealth visits may be equally effective compared to face-to-face services.

Combining different biological features exhibiting different functions is necessary to generate uncommon and unique multifunctional bio-inspired conceptual designs. Different biological features independently evolve characteristics to solve the same need/necessity. This phenomenon is called convergent evolution. Without parameters, selecting a suitable feature from those that exhibit the same function and have the same geometric relevance becomes quite difficult. This research investigates and identifies the parameters that have the potential to support choosing the suitable biological feature and to support the multifunctional design concept generation. In this paper, parameters are hypothesized by studying the mechanisms of tissue formation responsible for generating structural features in a biological system. These parameters are used in the Expandable Domain Integrated Design (xDID) ideation model to aid designers in choosing and combining suitable biological features for multifunctional concepts. A case study is presented to validate the effectiveness of the parameters in the selection process .

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a change in healthcare models. The aim of this study was to evaluate patient acceptance of telehealth as an alternative to physical consultations, and to identify factors predicting higher satisfaction. This was an observational, cross-sectional, multi-center, international study. All consecutive patients for whom telehealth was used in consultations between April and July 2020 were considered for inclusion. The validated Telehealth Usability Questionnaire (TUQ) was used as a model to measure patient acceptance. Overall, 747 patients were observed, of whom 721 agreed to participate (96·5%). The TUQ showed that 86·9% of patients agreed that telehealth was useful; 85·2% supported the interface quality and 81·4% endorsed the interaction quality. Patients aged > 60 y were less likely to agree with the use of telehealth (p < 0·05). A web-based prediction tool was generated to calculate global satisfaction and to identify patients more likely to feel comfortable with telehealth. Telehealth is feasible and allows consultations that are satisfactory for patients. Technological advancements could ease safe implementation of telehealth into everyday practice. Adequate patient selection can be useful to ensure that the ideal strategy is used for each individual during and after the pandemic.

Efficient recycling of resources forms the cornerstone of sustainable development. Among multiple options in stock for waste recycling, vermicomposting technology is regarded as a futuristic strategy, being tested in every part of the globe due to easy accessibility. Hence, a bibliometric study was planned to set a sight on global scientific trends encompassing vermicomposting research in last three decades. The data were retrieved from Google Scholar, Scopus and PubMed. Publications from different search engines were filtered out and 2064 unique documents were collected and illustrated in MS Excel and Vos-viewer. Inferences were drawn on significant aspects, such as publication growth trend, journal analysis and co-occurrence of keywords. The study revealed that the number of publications increased from 3 in 1992 to 166 in 2021. The number of citations also increased and peaked at 4314 in 2015. Following this, we clustered keywords using principle component analysis and worked out links between domains of vermicomposting. Vermicomposting conjoined to words substrate manipulation, quality improvement, heavy metal adsorption, and yield parameters. This implies that vermicompost is being explored for many alternate uses in addition to its use as a fertiliser. We concluded that vermicomposting is one of the promising technologies for waste recycling. It modulates plant growth and subdues stress in plants. Additionally, being an efficient adsorbent, it serves bioremediation of contaminated sites. Therefore, the future of this technology lies in synthesising nano-formulations, integrating into biosensor technology, simulating for predicting timelines under different conditions and making efforts to improve their adsorption.

BACKGROUND: Open educational resources (OER) are educational materials licensed openly by authors, permitting usage, redistribution, and in some instances, modification. OER platforms thereby serve as a medium for distributing and advancing teaching materials and innovative educational methodologies. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to determine the present state of OER in otorhinolaryngology and to examine the prerequisites for seamlessly integrating OER into the curricular teaching of medical schools, specifically through the design of two OER blended learning modules. METHODS: OER content in the field of otorhinolaryngology was analyzed on OER platforms, ensuring its relevance to the German medical curriculum. Data protection concerns were addressed with legal counsel. The blended learning modules were developed in collaboration with medical students and subsequently published as OER. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: This project yielded the first OER from a German ENT department, tailored to the German medical curriculum. One significant barrier to OER use in medicine, more than in other fields, is data protection. This challenge can be navigated by obtaining consent to publish patient data as OER. OER hold the promise to play a pivotal role in fostering cooperation and collaboration among educators, aiding educators in lesson preparation, and simultaneously enhancing didactic quality.

PURPOSE: The impact of well-crafted IEP goals on student outcomes is well-documented, but creating high-quality goals can be a challenging task for many special education teachers. This study aims to investigate potential effectiveness of using ChatGPT, an AI technology, in supporting development of high-quality, individualized IEP goals for preschool children with autism. METHODS: Thirty special education teachers working with preschool children with autism were randomly assigned to either the ChatGPT or control groups. Both groups received written guidelines on how to write SMART IEP goals, but only the ChatGPT group was given handout on how to use ChatGPT during IEP goal writing process. Quality of IEP goals written by the two groups was compared using a two-sample t-test, and categorization of goals by developmental domains was reported using frequency counts. RESULTS: Results indicate that using ChatGPT significantly improved the quality of IEP goals developed by special education teachers compared to those who did not use the technology. Teachers in the ChatGPT group had a higher proportion of goals targeting communication, social skills, motor/sensory, and self-care skills, while teachers in the control group had a higher proportion of goals targeting preacademic skills and behaviors. CONCLUSION: The potential of ChatGPT as an effective tool for supporting special education teachers in developing high-quality IEP goals suggests promising implications for improving outcomes for preschool children with autism. Its integration may offer valuable assistance in tailoring individualized goals to meet the diverse needs of students in special education settings.

Chile is facing an increasingly aging population and, with it, changes in its demographic, epidemiological, and healthcare structure. As a result, the sexual health of the elderly is an emerging area at the social level and in healthcare systems. This research aims to identify general aspects of sexuality in the elderly and learn about educational content delivered to this group using digital technologies. To do this, we proposed a review of scientific literature on the subject between January 1st, 2018, and December 31st, 2022, in the databases Web of Science, MEDLINE/PubMed, LILACS, Cochrane, Scopus, and Google Scholar. The articles found, and the emerging information was analyzed. A total of 1573 articles were found, of which 21 papers were finally included, 11 with qualitative methodology, six quantitative, and four mixed. In addition, nine addressed the area of sexuality, and 12 focused on technological innovations for the elderly. Sexuality is a growing topic worldwide, carrying with it sociocultural beliefs associated with dogmatic opinions and myths, with discrimination against this age group, especially if they belong to sexual minorities. This group also has better access to new digital technologies that facilitate access to training, social integration, and timely healthcare. Scientific evidence shows that the sexuality of the elderly is a topic of global interest, invisibilized, with low education and training of healthcare workers. The latter are neither informed nor able to solve the reasons for consultation in the traditional way or with new digital health technologies.


Chile es un país que enfrenta un envejecimiento poblacional acelerado, y con ello cambios en la estructura demográfica, epidemiológica y asistencial, donde la salud sexual de las personas mayores es un área emergente a nivel social y en los sistemas de salud. Esta investigación tiene por objetivos identificar aspectos generales de la sexualidad en las personas mayores, y conocer contenidos educativos entregados a este grupo con tecnologías digitales. Para ello, se propuso una revisión de literatura científica que buscó investigaciones en la materia entre el 1 de enero de 2018 y el 31 diciembre de 2022, en las bases de datos, A partir de ello se analizaron los artículos encontrados y la información emergente. Se encontraron 1573 artículos de los cuales se incluyeron 21 trabajos, 11 con metodología cualitativa, 6 cuantitativa y 4 mixta. Además, 9 trataron el área de sexualidad y 12 respecto de innovaciones tecnológicas en personas mayores. Se aprecia que la sexualidad es un tema creciente a nivel mundial, que arrastra idearios socioculturales asociados a visiones dogmáticas y a mitos, con discriminación hacia este grupo de edad, sobre todo si pertenecen a minorías sexuales. También se observa en este grupo de interés un mejor acceso a nuevas tecnologías digitales para acceder a capacitación, integración social y atención oportuna en salud. La evidencia científica demuestra que la sexualidad de las personas mayores es un tema de interés mundial, invisibilizado, con baja formación y capacitación del personal sanitario. Este personal no educa ni resuelve estos motivos de consulta en forma tradicional o con nuevas tecnologías digitales en salud.

Artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots, such as ChatGPT, have widely invaded all domains of human life. They have the potential to transform healthcare future. However, their effective implementation hinges on healthcare workers' (HCWs) adoption and perceptions. This study aimed to evaluate HCWs usability of ChatGPT three months post-launch in Saudi Arabia using the System Usability Scale (SUS). A total of 194 HCWs participated in the survey. Forty-seven percent were satisfied with their usage, 57 % expressed moderate to high trust in its ability to generate medical decisions. 58 % expected ChatGPT would improve patients' outcomes, even though 84 % were optimistic of its potential to improve the future of healthcare practice. They expressed possible concerns like recommending harmful medical decisions and medicolegal implications. The overall mean SUS score was 64.52, equivalent to 50 % percentile rank, indicating high marginal acceptability of the system. The strongest positive predictors of high SUS scores were participants' belief in AI chatbot's benefits in medical research, self-rated familiarity with ChatGPT and self-rated computer skills proficiency. Participants' learnability and ease of use score correlated positively but weakly. On the other hand, medical students and interns had significantly high learnability scores compared to others, while ease of use scores correlated very strongly with participants' perception of positive impact of ChatGPT on the future of healthcare practice. Our findings highlight the HCWs' perceived marginal acceptance of ChatGPT at the current stage and their optimism of its potential in supporting them in future practice, especially in the research domain, in addition to humble ambition of its potential to improve patients' outcomes particularly in regard of medical decisions. On the other end, it underscores the need for ongoing efforts to build trust and address ethical and legal concerns of AI implications in healthcare. The study contributes to the growing body of literature on AI chatbots in healthcare, especially addressing its future improvement strategies and provides insights for policymakers and healthcare providers about the potential benefits and challenges of implementing them in their practice.

Heart valve replacement has steadily increased over the past decades due to improved surgical mortality, an aging population, and the increasing use of transcatheter valve technology. With these developments, prosthetic valve complications, including prosthetic valve endocarditis, are increasingly encountered. In this review, we aim to characterize the manifestations of prosthetic valve endocarditis using representative case studies from our institution to highlight the advances and contributions of modern multimodality imaging techniques.

Clinical evidence is crucial in enabling the judicious adoption of technological innovations in radiation therapy (RT). Pharmaceutical evidence development frameworks are not useful for understanding how technical advances are maturing. In this paper, we introduce a new framework, the Radiation Therapy Technology Evidence Matrix (rtTEM), that helps visualize how the clinical evidence supporting new technologies is developing. The matrix is a unique 2D model based on the R-IDEAL clinical evaluation framework. It can be applied to clinical hypothesis testing trials, as well as publications reporting clinical treatment. We present the rtTEM and illustrate its application, using emerging and mature RT technologies as examples. The model breaks down the type of claim along the vertical axis and the strength of the evidence for that claim on the horizontal axis, both of which are inherent in clinical hypothesis testing. This simplified view allows for stakeholders to understand where the evidence is and where it is heading. Ultimately, the value of an innovation is typically demonstrated through superiority studies, which we have divided into three key categories - administrative, toxicity and control, to enable more detailed visibility of evidence development in that claim area. We propose the rtTEM can be used to track evidence development for new interventions in RT. We believe it will enable researchers and sponsors to identify gaps in evidence and to further direct evidence development. Thus, by highlighting evidence looked for by key policy decision makers, the rtTEM will support wider, timely patient access to high value technological advances.
